The Story
Please allow us a brief historical excursion. October of the year two-thousand-and-fourteen does not seem at first sight to overflow with historic events: Evo Morales became the president of Bolivia for the third time, Taylor Swift released her fifth – and once again successful – album and Pope Francis gave his blessing to the installation of LED lights in the Sistine Chapel in order to improve visibility and save on electricity.
In spite of our notorious modesty, we rank the founding of the Fellowship of the Sock very highly on the scoreboard of historic events currently celebrating their decennial. Surely you wish to promptly retort by saying that 19 October 2014 was the day humans deployed the first synthetic gut. Granted, that too may have been of some consequence.
While in-house breakdown still remains the preferred mode of digestion for the human body, human sock production in Sockshire has reached all-time highs, even if it remains entirely extracorporeal. Here we would like to claim if not primacy, then at least a temporary advantage.
In order to celebrate this sockiversary properly, we designed your newest sock model to resonate with the very first pattern produced in Sockshire exactly ten years ago. We of course chose to distinguish the pigmentation of the cotton filaments in order to set the current design apart from the pair of ten years ago.
Material
85 % of the material is combed cotton yarn. An additional 5 % is comprised of polyamide, which increases the socks’ resistance to wear and tear.
Lycra and polypropylene form the remaining 10 %. The latter provides the necessary tensile strength, while Lycra takes care of elasticity and contributes antibacterial properties.
